G-Damn Mio Link Confirms I've Aged
So...
I picked up a Mio Link optical heart rate sensor and yesterday's Mulholland Challenge was my first time seeing my HR on the bike in about 9+ years. I've been straight up power only, all the time, since at least 2006, I think.
Anyway, my HR was much lower than I remember it. Back in the day I think my LTHR was about 175-178bpm, with my Z1, do no harm, go all day HR at 135, Z2, IM HR was ~148-150, Z3 ~160-65, etc. Yesterday my HR was about 133-135 during IF @ .82 riding all day. On Wednesday I'll be able to benchmark my HR better, when I do my weekly TT effort on my hill, but yesterday I took HR off the main screen during the ride because it was truly just a number and I was confusing myself trying to wrap that number around my ustabe HR training zones.
...and I think the MIO battery died after about 7-8hrs of total time. I didn't really do my research beforehand but this appears to be typical. I'll find out between now and IMSG if it's a good half Ironman solution but I'll likely need to figure something else out for Ironman racing. I suppose I could turn it on when I start the bike, eliminating about 90' of swim + admin time, which will have it dying in about the last 60-90' of the IM marathon, which is when you're basically doing the best you can anyway, HR and pace be damned

Just wait ... you ain't even 50 yet!
That's kinda how I feel about just turning 51. BLECH. The mio link will be turned on for the bike and run. And, as you've said...once I'm hanging on for dear life, I don't care if it's still on!
