Age Graded Swim Calculator?

I was very interested to read in your swim book that you specify a swim pace target beyond which an investment in time is not recommended. That is ~24 min for 1500 meters. I have recently been introduced to the Age Graded Run Calculator which allows you to compare times across age groups. At age 70 (next month) my 1:59:27 half marathon age adjusts to 1:27:36. I will never run a 1:27:36. Can you recommend an age adjusted target for 1500 meters for a 70 year old?

    Hi Richard,

I found this with a quick Google search: http://www.usms.org/articles/articledisplay.php?aid=143

Let us know what you think.

  • Coach,
Thanks for the quick response. This article certainly is bang on. Google! Who would have thought?
Bottom line is that my time at the US Nationals age adjusts nicely to your target pace. I'll need to work my ass off to get back there for the Worlds. But beyond that, time will be better spent on the bike.
    Thanks for your help!
