Powertap Calibration Reading 596
My Garmin head unit has been giving me a calibration reading of 596 recently. Is there anything I need to worry about with that reading? Is there a range I should look for.... and if it falls outside of that range have it serviced?

My PT G3 did that recently. It had always been reading 504, 505, 506, 509, etc. Then after a race and a few week layoff, it was now reading 559, 564, etc. I felt like it was also reading a little low on the watts (or so I hoped!).
I called/emailed Saris and they told me that it is supposed to calibrate between 500-525. They had me send it in and they recalibrated it (actually, I think they rebuilt it because it sounded different when coasting?). It now reads around 515 or so consistently.
So, I think you have a problem. It's probably still "consistent", but may not be "accurate". HTH.
Aldo you mind sharing the cost and time it took? (Where you still under warranty)?
What Jeff said below.......
First do a firmware update....if no improvement, call Saris....
If the unit is worn out and not under warranty, Saris will replace the insides with a new G3 for about ~$300......

David, I can't remember the exact details, but I told them when I bought the wheel (through Rich/Wheelbuilder), and I believe it was about 1 1/2 years old. The guy said it was still covered. I didn't have to pay anything except the shipping to get it to them. Took about 3 wks from when I sent it to get it back (slower than they claimed, but had some holidays in the mix too). Not sure what the exact "policy" is, but I was pleased with customer service.
Like Shaughn said, I did update the firmware first....no change.
