Cold swim?

I understand the water is to be around 60 degrees. Is that cold enough to justify a neoprene cap and/or other cold water measures?

  • Doug, last year the water was colder. I want to say 57-58. I wore booties but don't think I needed them. At 60+ I think we'll be fine with just a wet suit once we're swimming.
  • CDA most years has been 57-60 degree's I have found that the neoprene cap and wet suit are good

I have found that the booties act as an anchor, the sun will be up, we will be warmed by that .

  • I have used a neoprene cap the last two years and have been very glad.
  • We had a cold spell over the weekend with rain. Sand hollow has dropped to 58. Unfortunately the cold spell is over and we are suppose to hit 90 on Saturday. Just hope the wind stays down or this could be an interesting race.
  • Keeping my fingers crossed for no wind on Saturday. My last two races (SuperFrog and IMAZ) have been in heavy winds. Crawling along into a headwind in aero at 12 MPH really sucks.

Praying for wind, so it gets in everyone's (non-EN'ers) heads and they screw up...
