  • EEEEK!!! Getting real!
  • I can't think that far ahead, I just checked the weather forecast for Blue Ridge camp and the 40-50 degrees and rain for Thursday and Friday has pegged my Joy meter.

Swam with the Masters group here for the first time this AM.  I now remember how much I hate kicking.  And did I mention drills? I hate drills too. But, on the plus side, the coaches are great, They do underwater video and even though I started in the slow lane, I was the fastest in the slow lane, So I've got that going for me.

Family in town and it rained here Sunday so I ran Sat and did sufferfest Dark Place yesterday.  That made the kicking drills even more fun.  Have a great week all.

@Mariah, I also ordered some now that they have the EN flag.  But they didn't have the flag on the wheel sticker order page. Poo!
  • @ralph turn that frown upside down.... you get to see ME in two days.... DUH!!!! happy days are here again!
  • Ralph - You are really bringing me down. I intentionally did not check the weather for this weekend so that, at least in my own little mind, I could think of riding in the NC sunshine for four days. Now I know that it may (I'm still not conceding it will) rain and I'm just a little sadder for that fact!! Unfortunately, work has gotten crazy this week and I may end up working most of the time we are off the bikes for the four days, which also makes me sad!

Anyway, on to training. Last week I missed several workouts -- some because of work and some intentionally -- then ran a 10 mil race on Sunday morning. It was great. I got a 2.5 point vDot bump. I'll take it. I think this week I will swim and maybe do a short run Wednesday morning before hopping in the car to drive to Boone, then it will be all about the bike. See you guys in NC Wednesday.
  • For Blue Ridge Camp, try not to get too worked up about the weather just yet. It's still several days away and things really do change pretty quickly. (Someone please remind me I said this, oh, around May 25th or so).

John- sounds like you have a great plan worked out! I'm really jealous of you guys going to the camp- it's one I've wanted to do but haven't had the chance yet.

Do we have anyone here that has actually done Raliegh 70.3 before? I ask because I'm doing a little herding of cats of my own as well. I've got about 15+ folks from OBX coming out to race and we are hoping to get a group picture at the start. Any suggestions for a good "meet up" spot at say 6:40 to allow enough time for the first wave guys to get to the start without any pressure?
  • @nemo - I have done the race and up until a couple months ago lived on the run course and biked the bike course every weekend- I'm from raleigh so this is basically a piece of cake logistics wise for me - i would meet outside T1 near swim exit - that is where we took the team pic last year it worked great
  • Excellent, thanks so much Captain!!!! We of course need an EN picture as well!
  • And bib #'s are posted for Raleigh as well!

Had a tough week of training last week. I think I went a lot deeper during the race rehearsal than i realized and a few days later it finally hit me. I only got in about 3 hours of training over the weekend. The weather here has been awful. Definitely looking to get back on track this week and get the momentum rolling all the way to May 31st. Lets do this!
  • In Nemo's word it's "getting real". In 12 days I compete in the first 70.3 of the season for me. To say I'm a little nervous is an understatement. Only two outdoor rides under my belt so far as the temps in VA have been less than stellar. I feel I've put in the work, it's just a matter of executing at three seamlessly at once. Ugh, first race of the season is always so nerve wracking image. Need some EN mojo love...have some big expectations for myself and desperately want to deliver image
  • @danielle MOJO? Ok do I need to show up at this race? You're a beast, whatever expectations you want you will crush, you are focused, you put in the time, your nutrition is on point, your mental game is in check.... what more do you need? The best triathlon team in the world backing you up? ok you've got that too! An awesome family who is your number one cheer squad? Yep, you've got that too. This race is yours.

Hey everyone- I just ran the Raleigh run course--- y'all are going to love it, this race means so much to me, and if you're new I can't wait to show you my home town. The run course is PERFECT for mojo the best I've seen.
  • I heart you Mariah! You said everything I needed to hear right now and I truly appreciate it girl!! I'm sad I won't be at Raleigh again this year, the course, the city, the vibe, the EN mojo is awesome. I truly loved seeing all of our EN team out there slaying it last year...expect the same this year!!!
  • Mariah - it's great to hear that you ran the course. Even if only one lap, your running must be coming along. I hope it is pain free.
  • @john - I ran 4 miles thats my longest run to date- slow slow slow miles but other than "fitness" pain the knee isn't acting up yet, but again I'm not pushing my pace - we shall see just taking it one day at a time and keeping what I can control inside "THE BOX"
  • Four miles is four miles. Nice job!
  • @danielle I laughed today having a flashback to IMRaleigh last year when you zoomed past me on the course saying "will this head wind ever go away" you're flying past me like a cheetah on fire and I might as well have been walking my bike - and you think you need mojo? HA! you ARE the mojo!
  • back to work today. Had my first solid workout in a week. A strong bike followed by a decent run. I shut the run down a little early due to some left quad cramping.
  • @mariah that darn headwind was so awful that I was just so happy to see someone with an EN shirt on at that moment (to commiserate withimage)! Maybe y'all will be lucky this year and get the tailwind they had in year one :-D
  • Nice work everyone! I also had a good bike this morning and I'm heading off now for a swim.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the webinar Nemo!

Hit the pool after work and had a good swim. Followed it up with an interval run. I hit my TP paces but swimming beforehand definitely made the wko a little more challenging!
  • Nailed the long run today! Woot Woot!

Doug, I've been swapping that Swim/Run to a Run/Swim which seems to help me hit all the intervals better.
  • @Nemo, way to get that long run done! I agree, I prefer to do the run first. My schedule didn't allow for it yesterday.

I got in a good trainer ride with VO2 intervals and some Z3 and followed it up with a 30 minute run. Feeling back in the groove!
  • Hope those of you doing the recon ride this weekend have good weather! The temps here on OBX look great this weekend, but the wind is gonna be a bit tricky. I may end up on the trainer Saturday, again!
  • @Nemo, don't feel bad, i'll probably be on the trainer too!
  • A couple good workouts this weekend. 3+ hours on the trainer yesterday with an IF of .82. Today I did a longish run of 10.5 miles and my legs felt pretty good despite the hard ride yesterday. Looking to put together a couple solid weeks of training before the taper.
  • Couldn't get the webinar sign-up link to work. Anyone else having trouble?
