The olympic here in 2012 was my first triathlon; with the exception of the longer bike course, the rest of the course is the same. Swim wasn't bad; cold upriver swim to exit by being pulled up onto a dock...transition area was a bit muddy and you have to run through a bit of grass to bike mount. Stout little up hill coming back to T2. Out and back run is a slight false flat going out, which made for a smoking fast return.
Overall, even though it was my first, I really thought the area was very nice and scenic ~ think it was earlier in the year, so it may have been a bit cooler.
@Steven-I'll be doing the race this year. My first so no real input other than they have made the bike course a full 56 vs the 52 it has been. I hear the water is always around 68 degrees so wetsuit legal even in August.
Thanks for the input guys, I would usually laugh at the idea of wearing a wet suit in August but 68 degrees is cold! I did find a few race reports out there on last years half. I really don't know much about the course other than what's provided on the elevation profiles and maps.
I'll be joining y'all at Lake Logan. This will be my first time there but several friends have spoken very highly of the race. I have been told that, despite it being in the mountains, it is not a hilly course. We'll see.
Hi, I live about :45 from LL. It's a beautiful area. Rolling hills to cycle on with a climb out and back to T2. Like the post before said, the run is kind of a false flat but not too intense. The lake is cold enough for a wetsuit. They take the temp under the bridge which assures it will be wetsuit legal. Your going to love the course. Good training for a hilly IM. I'll see you there too!
I'm just getting into the training for Lake Logan. I'll start a thread under the Summer HIM forums so we can keep in touch with our training. Everyone can post how things are going and get a little support when needed. Much like the IM, GF and OS forums.

Let's make it a point to at least meet and take a photo to post.
Let's keep in touch! Happy training!
