Shamrock Duathlon
I raced the Shamrock Duathlon on Sunday. It is my 3rd time doing the race and I like it, except the running parts. It is 3.1-16-3.3 miles of run bike run.
I last raced it in 2013 and had a "cardiac episode" on the bike which caused me to have to reign it in for the 2nd half, which luckily is a lot of downhills. (You can see that report here: http://members.endurancenation.us/Forums/tabid/57/aft/11819/Default.aspx)
Long story short, faster bike and transitions and slower runs. Overall about 4 mins faster. I would have expected a little better, but I think one of the big factors is the extra 10-ish pounds I have vs. 2013. I'm not thrilled with the race, nor super disappointed. A PR is a PR. Just brings to my attention the importance of body comp moving forward. I do feel like I could have pushed more on the bike as I rode at about .90IF. I KNEW I could push harder but I think my brain and legs were having a subconscious convo w/o me saying "You still have to run AGAIN, and it's getting hot, don't kill yourself" even though my conscious brain was saying "You got more for this ride. GO!" I may have also been a little gun-shy on some of the descents as a result of last week's crash in my first bike race. That report is here: http://members.endurancenation.us/Forums/tabid/57/aft/18610/Default.aspx
