Modifying short course intermediate week 10

Wednesday is a swim day. Given my talk with Coach P he has recommended only swimming once a week in the pool and doing this at the end of the training block.

How would I modify week 10 to make this work?

  • Tom, can you swim any day of the week or are their pool constraints for you?

    I would have you skip the Wednesday swim and just do the run.

    Friday you could move Sat workouts there...Sunday to Saturday, then your Sunday could be the Friday or Wednesday swim your call.

    If that that isn't an option with your schedule then Friday becomes a 45 minute Zone 1-2 run with strides at the end (4-6 x Strides). Then Sat as planned, Sunday as planned but add the swim.

  • I can definitely get a swim in, but I was thinking about what coach Rich said about the testing and I went back to week 8 and I switched the days around (posted this in another micro thread). I completed the bike TT and the lactate threshold of 165 bpm. I posted the workout to Strava.

    Let me know what you think. Since I'm testing now I'll skip the week 12 workout and move to 13 if that's ok.

  • Yes, moving to Week 13 is fine...good call...let me know how those zones are working out. Sometimes folks need to fudge them a bit as the first test isn't perfect...feel free to adjust them incrementally if needed!
