MY IM was cancelled. What should I do now?
My focus race/trip was the Prague Bigman which was an Xterra on Saturday July 4 and an IM on Sunday July 5. The marathon was going to be an issue due to run mileage is way behind due to hamstring recovery. I just received an email from the race director who states that due to his medical issues he has to cancel the race. I have already booked flights and hotels so we are going for a vacation. The weekend before is Challenge AC, which because it's in my backyard, I am signed up for the half aqua bike. I'm now thinking of switching to the HIM or the full. Swim and bike fitness are fine. Running the distance will be even tougher one week sooner. Racing a HIM when I can't yet do speed work might bum me out though. The other race that was on my schedule by the way was 70.3 Princeton (Cancelled earlier this spring).
All thoughts appreciated.
thanks,
Rob

I'd say this is good news. Doing an Xterra with an IM on the following day sounds insane to me - I've done a number of IMs, and a number of Xterras, and can't imagine doing them back to back like that. If you were truly ready to do this weekend (even with a poor IM run), then you are surely ready to do an IM the week before.
It sounds like this was meant as "have fun with my fitness". In that light, an alternative plan for fun seems warranted. One week less of run training won't make a damn bit of difference.
