Brandon's Macro Thread
So I am finishing up the last week of my Intermediate Get Faster block prior to the start of my Intermediate Full IM block in preparation for IM Chattanooga in September.
My Get Faster started out great with a lot of speed and workouts really pushing my limits. I really felt like I was making some good progress. Then in week 4, I got sick and blew close to a week of training. I followed this up with a work trip to China for 10 days in week 5ish and followed it up with a weeklong family vacation in week 7. I was able to get in a few good runs in China and an awesome few days of training during my vacation but it wasn't what I wanted. To top it off, I injured my shoulder/neck while kneeboarding on the family vacation. Luckily, the doctor does not think I have any real damage and has only limited me to "if it hurts, don't do it". I have been able to run and ride on the trainer. I have not swam but the motion does not appear to cause too much pain so I will likely start swimming again on Monday.
The reason for this post is to get an opinion and confidence boost that I still at an ok place in my training for a race that is 108 days and 22 hours away. This is my first full IM and I am nervous that I am falling behind due to everything mentioned above. My plan was to essentially shut down everything and really focus on training after my family vacation but I feel like I am coming into the Ironman program a little undertrained. Am I still in a good place? Do I still have time to correct this?
Thanks for any help to make me feel better. I have been really down on myself since I injured myself essentially doing something stupid. Thanks again, Brandon
