TOC Gruppetto

I'm looking forward to TOC, but I need to warn everyone that I have been injured and essentially workout free for a month. I hurt my right hip (bursitis) at IMAZ and it has not recovered despite a variety of rehab strategies. Finally in March, after having difficulty standing to in the OR due to pain, I pulled the plug for a month completely. It has helped and things seem to be on the mend. I did the Broad Street 10-miler over the weekend as a light training run and was happy to only have some very mild soreness, but no pain afterwards. I'm going to start getting back on the bike this week (biking actually seems to aggravate it more than running so I am holding my breath) and see how it goes.

My main goal is to finish TOC stronger than when I start (i.e. not reinjure myself where I have to take another month off just to walk without a limp) so look for me at the back of the pack with a lower threshold to jump in the van than Mario Cippollini at the base of Ventoux. Now, gotta get the bike ready to ship!

  • Kevin, word is we've got a pretty good PT joining us on the trip who helped me rehab a hip/glute injury earlier this year.    And if she's busy, we've got a pretty good general surgeon on the trip as well.  I just hope none of us need to enlist your brain surgeon skills.

    We'll have a good time.

  • No worries Kevin- you can ride with me!
