When is it too hot to do IM?
Seems I as much fan support for CDA as I am "WTF do you plan to do in 106 degree heat?" Do officials have some sort of limit for this type of activity at heat?
I don't mind suffering, but I am beginning to question the value of the training if we are all going to be death walking to the finish.

Good luck to everybody!! Race safe and remember that there will always be another race to PR or KQ.
The humidity will be low. So actually may feel better then the recent texas iron.
Sorry if gets changed to half for those that want a full. But for me, may be good to go shorter and faster. Just rip it and die.
Rob is right, usually TX is one of the highest Heat indexes around....and they manage through that one. However, I can truly appreciate the shock from all the northerners on these projections........

I wrote my PSA on the CDA forum before I saw this thread. My opinion about race day safety is: if on the morning of the race, the predicted hi temp is above 102, WTC should alter the race to a 70.3 with a 6 AM start for AGers. Otherwise, for full IM, start pros @ 5:20 and Agers soon after 6 AM. I would not race a full IM, or at least not do the marathon, if the temps are above 40C (at the start of the run), but I've got a finisher's medal or two, and surely don't need another one that badly.
The last thing they want/need is a death from heat stroke. As it is, the DNF rate will be will past 20%.
"Studies show" the fitter the athlete, the better they do in the heat, regardless of acclimatization.
