pool water like a bath tub

For some reason, my lovely pool at the Biltmore has been warm like bath water. I tend to overheat easily anyway, but this morning I had to try and swim without a cap on. didn't work so well. Is there a swim cap that allows more heat out? I'm using the usual latex or rubber (whatever that's called) and I could fry an egg on my head after a couple of laps. So I stop, take it off, dunk under, and start over. PITA.

Supposedly they still had the heaters on at night until last week. Geezuss it's 90+ degrees everyday for weeks now. Any suggestions would be helpful. Tomorrow I'm going to bring a big water bottle with ice water in it and deal as best I can. But there must be a cloth kind of cap, yes?

Thanks in advance oh wicked smart team mates.

  • I believe there are cloth like caps that let the water through but I've never tried them. Our local pool has been 84+ the last few days and I'm dreading having to go swim there. Sadly the warm temps are also making our OWS options around here unsafe as well (bacteria).
  • You know, I think I actually have one. It's meant to be worn under a cap if the water's really cold. I wonder if it will stay on my head? Time trial swim tomorrow morning! 'film at eleven'

Update... of course I coudn't find it in time for this morning! The water was a little better, but the short end was blocked off for chemical treatment (more??) SO instead of doing my TT for the second time, I just swam. Yesterdays 900 and todays 1150 almost makes a real swim. I did some faster lengths so I could convince myself I didn't waste the morning. Did get a chance to talk to the pool guy though, and he was informative, somewhat defensive but at least I got some answers. Mr. Crankypants from yesterday was stomping and snorting around all pissed about the warmth etc. Hopefully he found the pool guy. I knew I should have left the house earlier!
