fatigue

Hey Coach,

Was wondering if I'm inadvertently accumulating leg fatigue by pushing more watts at lower RPM's, despite staying in the correct HR Zone.  I find that I have a slightly faster speed with a lower cadence (82-85) while pushing a bigger gear.  I would assume once I get my power meter I'll know exactly where to be, but for now, I feel more "natural" with a lower cadence.

  • Julie, that's hard to say without more adequate comparisons...low rpm ride + run, then high rpm ride + run, etc.

For me if you can sustain the rpms for the duration of your rides, odds are it's pretty good. That said, we want to be careful on hills...if you find yourself trying to recover from bad shifting or needing to stand, then you'll need to be a bit quicker with the shifting finger up wards...
