Richard Beatty Macro

Not sure if this is Macro or TSR stuff, but want to lay it out. Need some direction on training this summer given my TRI race season is done for the year (life stuff, etc). Was able to do 2 Olys (May/June) but did have some achilies issues so had to drop the run volume. Six months into EN, I get what this training is all about, now its time to reset the clock and start the execution phase. Here is what I am committed too right now for the next 15 months.


- Oct 2015 HM
- April 2016 HIM (Texas / NO?)
- May 2016 (2 kid graduations and 10-day family vacation)
- July 2016 IMWIS EN Camp
- Sept 2016 IMWIS (2nd time)


Definitely need to work on bike/run endurance and speed to achieve my goal of a 12hr IM next year. Swimming is avg/above avg as long as I stay with it, and it helps me with overall fitness and body comp. Plan on swimming 2 Masters sessions a week min.

Suggestions on how to add some structure and accountability to my training this summer? Goal is to build up the fitness and endurance to have a great Oct HM and strong foundation for big improvements in the next OS and beyond.

  • * Coach Rich... Mr Beatty has completely omitted the fact that I have committed him to do the Double Triple Bypass in Colorado next year! Please make note that he may be knocked over the head and abducted for a 200 mile ride next July when you make his plan.

    Please submit this to me via the Triathlon Season Roadmap tool, under the Training tab above. I'll plan that out and then we can circle back to this thread for any needed additional discussion. 

  • Coach R. Plans have changed since your super awesome TSR for me was last completed. Only 1 race on the calendar now IMWIS. I had some foot issues last fall, so pushed the NOS to JOS. All is going great now under the JOS Intermediate plan. Hitting the run targets and pushing the bike intervals. Several HM's planned for spring time. Was wondering if you can look at my last TSR between 4/11 and start of the IM plan for WIS. If the Bike Focus and GF still makes sense then I am good with that (maybe a recovery week between JOS and BF (1 week of swim camp or something??). No hurry, 9 more weeks of suffering to go image Thanks
