I can't do race rehearsal this week.... (Patti)

I've got three ER shifts and they will likely be busy!  plus I was so wiped out this weekend that the 3 hour ride didn't happen and the 3 our run turned into a walk with the dog!

I want to do my race rehearsal next week.  any issues with this?

    No issue with RR next week, just make sure next day is off and that you are 100% recovered before you proceed to the next session!
  • Fantastic! This Sunday the folks from Pedal Hard are loading up Lake Placid on the computrainer so I can at least do about 3 hours with them after my shift in Killeen. 12 hour Night shifts in a busy ER are kind of like doing an ironman anyway....

      I'll try to get the scheduled run in today before the shift this evening.

    btw, 16.28 miles yesterday in the Hoka Stinson light.... nice feel, but tore up my toes... so far the Newtons are winning on the long distance running, Altras a close second but more for off road, and Hokas are for when everything else is hurting... but expecting blisters on the toes with that
  • SWEET RUN! You might need to plus up a 1/2 size in hokas if they are snug...or if they are too roomy (and you are slip sliding) then maybe 2 pairs of socks. I find that the laces are hard to keep "snug" and I often have to retighten them. On race day my feet are sufficiently swollen when I start such that I don't have any issues...
  • I put the inserts from my Altras in the Hokas. that seemed to work but I think I'll go with the Newtons for this race... I do like the way the Stinson lights are very airy with kind of a net topping... just not enough runs in them yet to do the IM
  • do you recommend Yasso's prior to ironman?  cause I would be doing those this week for marathon....  I don't see that you do... It could be I just like running around in circles image
  • PAtti, I do recommend doing some speedwork (as per the plan) but it would have to be at IM appropriate intensity if you were to extend that run (or the Yasso Math), not at Marathon intensity...okay? image
