Turn by Turn App

Hi, all,

Does anyone know of an app for my phone that will give me turn by turn directions from a route that I program in? One of the suggestions for the EN Wisc Camp is to have turn by turn directions of the course. Trying not to buy any new gadgets and just use what I have. You would think there would be an app that could do this but I can't find one. Just thought maybe someone will have a suggestion.

Thanks in advance,

Cristi

  • Ride with GPS is the App you want. Good chance the camp courses are already on there and then you download them and ride them. Will also give you audio cue if you can hear your phone while you ride. You can also create your own course and then use the app to ride it.
  • The WI course is pretty well marked by other groups. The only place you could really go wrong is there is an arrow after the hill on Timber (2nd of 3 bitches) that says "HOME". This is because the group that has marked the course starts from a location off course. Just ignore that and I think you'll be fine.

    Cristi,

As you saw in the .pdf that was sent to you when you registered, I have created the IMWI camp route on RidewithGPS.com. I don't know anything about the app but it would be GREAT if the app works as Jason describes. If you have a chance to proof that out before the camp, please let me know so I can recommend that option to other campers for my WI and Chat camps.

Over the years I've pretty much learned I need to have everyone empty out their pockets and show me they no-shit have a map / cue sheet on them. Every. Single. Camp someone shows up without directions expecting to just magically navigate themselves around the course.

    Don't be that guy

  • Rich, what do you speak of? image I still remember IMLP camp 2013 when someone rode 130 miles into the middle of BFNW. image

I'd test that RwGPS app, and consider headphones (one ear) so you can hear the notifications...

Rachel, I'm getting out to Madison on Wed to ride the course on Thurs so can report back on what color arrows are the IM ones...there are many arrows out there.

The left, quick right on Garfoot, right in front of the guys house with the radio tower in the back, is the big one. If they miss that quick right and keep going straight, I usually don't see the campers until Sunday afternoon or so

My point is that every. year. despite my best efforts people show up without any navigation aids.
