Size question for buying used

Looking at a low miles, great condition Scott Plasma 3.

size 54.  I've ridden 55 and 56 comfortably.

54 sounds like medium.  I'd fall into that grey area between medium and large.  Longer torso, shorter legs.  I'm pretty adaptable to anything and any position have ridden and raced on borrowed bikes at times.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 6yr old Special Transition and this is a bike that i've been keeping an eye out for.

When buying used, you're at the mercy of what pops up at the perfect price.  But, as much as I want this to work, if it's too small then I'll just keep looking.  It's not like my Transition isn't race worthy.

Thanks for any feedback offered.

  • Hey Chris,
Talk to Curtis at Cannon Cyclery in Alpharetta. http://www.cannoncyclery.bike
He did my fit and every used bike I bought I had him do a pre-purchase inspection
  • That's a good idea, Don. You're not the first person to recommend Cannon Cyclery to me. I think I'll do that.
  • If you are in a grey area, you can a lot with stems, risers, etc as long as the font end is not super custom like a speed concept or P5
  • Thanks for the feedback, guys.

After sleeping on it for a day or two, I've decided to pass it up.

Not that big of an upgrade from what I'm racing right now and I don't feel like forcing my fit.

    The 'itch' isn't overwhelming, yet.

Will just save some more pennies and wait for Dino's used goods.
