Rich - I am currently starting week 11 of the intermediate short course plan with target race on 9/20.  I've completed 3 full weeks and so far everything is going really well.  I need to adjust my schedule for an upcoming vacation and want to get your advice.

Two weeks from now I'm going to be spending a week (9 days total) camping and hiking in Glacier NP.  So while this will be a very active vacation (we typically hike several miles per day, including some tough climbs), there won't be any triathlon specific training during this trip.  This corresponds to week 13 in my schedule, as well as the weekend at the end of week 12.  Looking ahead, week 12 appears to be the beginning of block 3 with repeat testing, and I wonder how useful or accurate these tests will be immediately before this break in training.  How would you recommend I adjust my schedule over the next few weeks?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey Greg,

    Sorry I missed this. Notes:

    • Follow your schedule until you go on this trip
    • Enjoy the hiking and (1) take care of your feet and (2) don't roll an ankle!
    • You can do the tests anytime after you get back, just substituting the bike test for intervals and/or a 5k run for the interval run.

Take pics! I've been through the park via Going to the Sun road a couple times on motos and rode almost all the way up to Logan Pass last year on my road bike, on my way to CDA. If go to St Mary's on the east side, be sure to stop at whatever the restaurant is that features PIE. Must. Stop. At. All. Pie. Shops. It's a rule.
