Catherine Branch's 2015 Micro Thread

Question about what I should do next week.  Next week is week 12 of the beginner IM plan (doing IMCHOO).  Starting Sunday, I'll be family and (mostly) work-free until Wednesday.  I'll have the time to put in some big hours, if needed.  Then I'm going out of town Thursday and won't have my bike until I return the next Monday.  i was wondering if I shouldn't do a bike-heavy first half of the week, and a run-only second half of the week.  I'm doing Toughman AL (1/2-Irondistance) on August 15, but not worried about the bike there -- already done multiple 50+ rides and feel comfortable.  Looking ahead to IM.  Not worried about swim, either.  Need to get the workouts in, but it's not a concern if I miss a few.

  • CB, sure! Since it's early not worried about intensity and if your schedule is flex then let's use it. Call it M/T/W all 2.5 to 3 hour rides with a short 30' run before or after. So could be "limited" to 3 or 3.5 hours a day (9 hours of cycling back to back is a lot). Thursday would be long run, Friday swim only, you could run "longish" again on Saturday with a short Sunday run. Then back at it.

    If you want to go longer earlier in the week then I suggest you keep the total riding under 10 hours, just re shuffle! Enjoy it!
