New TSR questions

1. Is tri bike critical for bike focus period? Road bike getting dusty.

2. What impact would a 10/3/15 marathon be for my Austin HIM outcome (11/8/15)? Austin goal is to PR over 2014.

3. No swim camp at the end of OS? Ok by me, assume this is intentional bc STG run is scary.

4a. "BOPers should approach STG like an IM, basically." Any tweaks to the stock EN HIM plan for STG prep, per our prior conversations on the topic, are appreciated. Elevation goals on bike/run?

4b. I did EN IM plan x 3 weeks prior to STG in 2015 bc CDA was right around the corner. If I do Boulder, anticipating a late July/early August IM, and STG is more of an IM for me, no role for pre-STG IM plan (instead of HIM)?

Thanks,

DS

    1. Is tri bike critical for bike focus period? Road bike getting dusty. No, road bike is fine since you're so far out from Austin

    2. What impact would a 10/3/15 marathon be for my Austin HIM outcome (11/8/15)? Austin goal is to PR over 2014. Impact would be very, very bad. Please read this. Fine to do a half marathon if there's one associated with that race.

    3. No swim camp at the end of OS? Ok by me, assume this is intentional bc STG run is scary. You're doing January OS + IMSG = not much time to include a swim camp block. That is, I want to keep you on the OS for as long as we can but I already need to pull you out of the OS early, to start the HIM plan in route to IMSG.

4a. "BOPers should approach STG like an IM, basically." Any tweaks to the stock EN HIM plan for STG prep, per our prior conversations on the topic, are appreciated. Elevation goals on bike/run? Approach it more as an IM with regards to racing it, not necessarily training for it. The "stock" HIM plan is fine, no real changes need. As for elevation goals on the bike and run, you did the race so you know what you're in for. There's no magical pixie dust to make you better on hills on the bike and run. Show up fit, show up light, bring enough gears for your bike, and the perspective of not necessarily being intimidated by hilly terrain. As for training, sure, ride and run hilly courses if they are convenient for you but no need to go crazy. More valuable to look at this race as a serious w/kg/body comp goal.

4b. I did EN IM plan x 3 weeks prior to STG in 2015 bc CDA was right around the corner. If I do Boulder, anticipating a late July/early August IM, and STG is more of an IM for me, no role for pre-STG IM plan (instead of HIM)? Let's solve that if you decide to race IMBoulder. Zero value now in talking about training for a race that's over a year away :-)

    Thanks,

    DS

  • How dumb would it be to do IM florida prior to IMStG?
  • IM FL 70.3: 4/10/2016
    IM StG 70.3: 5/7/2016

    IM FL 70.3: 4/10/2016

    IM StG 70.3: 5/7/2016

FL as a B-race in route to SG as an A-race is fine
