Consumer Labs - a good investment

If you are into supplements and want to be sure you get your money's worth (and not stuff you don't want like contaminated protein powders) you might consider subscribing to Consumer Labs - www.consumerlabs.com.  They take products and test to see if they have what they say they have and are not contaminated.  I use this constantly with clients, but many "regular consumers" find it helpful, too.  They just did a report on protein powders if you are interested.

I do not have any financial interest in Consumer Labs.

  • If you are interested in protein powders, I posted to the "Protein powder" thread the ones that have been discussed and tested. Unfortunately, they can't test everything, but did test quite a few.

    They tested:
    - 11 whey
    - 3 soy/rice
    - 3 recovery (including Endurox R4 and Powerbar recovery orange which both passed)
    - 3 meal replacements

  • I had a subscription several years ago to Consumer Labs. It was very helpful when I was trying to figure out which brand of vitamin to buy. IIRC it's an annual subscription that was pretty cheap- and for most of us "regular consumers", you can probably get most of what you need out of it within that one year. Once you select your multi= you usually don't change it that frequently.
