Help with Time Trial Nutrition
I need some nutrition advice for a time trial I participate in once a month. The distance is 15k; the conditions are usually windy and for today's race it will be around 90 degrees at the start, humidity around 85%. I tend to sweat a lot, so my question is would it help if I had some fluids to drink at this distance and for the conditions? On average it takes me 22 minutes to finish this event.

I would not bring any at all. (Too much weight for such a short TT). Just stay well hydrated before the event and you'll be fine. It's kinda like a 5K and I never grab anything, no matter how hot, in that short of a race. Too much wasted time.
Thanks Trent, I thought the same thing but remember last summer when I did the same series all I could think about was needing something. The weight thing and 5k comparo make sense. Of course who has time to drink when its all out and by the time you get to the finish you are ready to throw up. Why do I keep doing this?
I'm totally signing up!
I'd hydrate LOTS before, but nothing during. Don't hydrate too much before though, you also don't want sloshing liquid or imminent bladder problems.
If it were me and I were serious about it, I'd chug a bike bottle of water and 4x espresso about an hour before the TT. Cafeine does wonders for my FTP mojo.
Werd. Caffeine is good for no less than 10 W on the FTP for me.
and Blogging Mojo, podcasting mojo, etc etc
x3 on the caffeine. I've used Rich's method but have also started to experiment with PreRace from First Endurance. It's like rocket fuel. Mostly caffeine though.
