IM Canada complete, IMLT in 6.5 weeks

Hey Coach-

IM Canada, July 26, was my first IM. I finished in 12 hr 37 min. The final 20 miles of the bike, all climb, killed me. I know I can do better. My lungs felt great on the run but my legs felt like jello pudding. I am nursing a sore left Achilles tendon, which I've never had issue with EVER. I raced a local Olympic tri on August 1 in 2 hr 28 min. Felt great during swim and bike but at mile 3 my Achilles acted up. I'm going to rest the Achilles for a few days. Especially since its my birthday tomorrow. But I am hoping to get more ready for IMLT. ALSO, I'm getting married August 29. Just a little wedding to do before IMLT.

Two things. What do you recommend I do for workouts to prepare for IMLT? Keeping in consideration my Achilles injury..

Also, is this the appropriate place to discuss IM Canada?

Thanks Coach.

    Thanks Coach.

Congrats on Canada! Tough day out there, for sure. Notes:

    • Load up the IM Transition Training Plan, to end 4wks out from IMCA. This would put you into wk2 this week.
    • Do that through the end of next week, then load up the EN*Full training plan, to end on IMLT.
    • Throughout all of ^this^ listen to your achilles and back off if you feel you need to, especially on the run.
    • That said, there's really no reason for you to run longer than ~1:45 in your long runs leading up to LT so adjust the long runs accordingly.

Please post a race report in the Race Report forum.

    Thanks and good luck!
