Hoka Trail shoes

Currently I'm running Bondi 3s (clearance from Running Warehouse) and want a pair of their trail shoes for an upcoming trail half-mary.

Looking to get a good closeout price at Running Warehouse while I can.

Sight unseen (not tried on), what's the most similar in the Hoka trail shoes to the Bondi 3s?

Challenger

Mafate

Stinson

All of their descriptions seem to indicate "neutral or supinated foot motion", like the Bondi.

  • ok, in the spirit of "I cant answer your exact question but this might help" - I offer this.
Challenger is my current go to shoe right now. Trail or road. I find them to be firmer than the bondi 4, firmer than the Clifton.
The challenger also feels more "secure" to me than Bondi and clifton. Like the outsole is wider relative to the footbed. Less like platform shoes.
Cant comment on Mafate or Stinson.
  • Stay away from the Mafate's (I personally found them too unstable to run trails on).

The Stinson ATR will be the most similar to your Bondi 3's. This is a solid and durable trail shoe that is also comfortable. And it's on sale on their site...

BUT, I would urge you to get the Challenger ATR instead. This is the trail version of the Clifton. Simply way lighter than either of the other two and still a good trail shoe (just not quite as chunky).
  • Not soon after I posted this, I found some $91 discounted Challengers in my size on runningwarehouse, so I bought em!

Thanks for the feedback, as always!
  • Another vote for the Challenger ATR.  Best trail running shoes I've ever had.
