Oh no! Not that song!
I often find that I will sign a small snipit of some song that I recently heard. 112 miles is a looong time on a bike. As such what ever lyrical masterpiece that I am graced with will have hours over which to make its case best/worst song of the year. Pre race I do my best to avoid songs with short catchy chorus lines (eg. Songs like Fancy or Going Down for Real).
What I can't defend against is whatever they are playing in T1 as I leave.
The worst song I was ever assaulted with was..."and I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more"
At first I would add the next few words but at the end of the bike I was down to just that line...??
What's the worst song you've ever had stuck in your head?

I also tend to get "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine" just that line, stuck in my head while biking. No clue why. I haven't heard that song in ages. Like Rachel, I sing aloud on my long rides.
Ok, @Chris. Your question made me laugh out loud. Last year before my first IM at CDA, the day before the race, my wife and I decided to catch a movie to help me relax. She had been wanting to see Jersey Boys but we hadn't due to my workout schedule. I also wanted to see it and thought going to see it before the race would earn me some spousal approval units since I was probably close to being overdrawn at that point. We enjoyed the movie and one of my favorite songs from it WAS..."December 1963 (Oh What a Night)". During the bike, I could not get the song out of my head! I kept singing, "Oh what a day." Now whenever I hear the song, I smile and remember the day I became an Ironman.
Then in Austria 5 weeks ago, most of the radio stations are, of course, in German. But one station played songs in English. So Christi and I listened to it for the 5 days prior to the race. And over and over they played this song we had never heard before by Lunchmoney Lewis called "Bills". It goes, "I've got bills I've gotta pay, So I've gotta work work work every day..." Stupid song but catchy tune. By Friday we were singing it together. The day before the race, we heard it in the morning and I said to Christi, "I hope this doesnt get stuck in my head tomorrow like December 1963!" We both laughed. Then we didnt hear the song AT ALL the rest of the day. Race morning while getting ready, we didnt hear it (in our room we listened to the radio since the TV was in German). Didnt even think of the song. THEN...while standing on the beach with cap and goggles on, trying to focus on the day ahead, with less than a minute to go, what does the loud speaker start to play..."I've got mouths, I've gotta feed...!" I just burst out laughing! Of course! People around me turned to figure out what in the world was causing this guy to be laughing right before the gun goes off. I started swimming and I didnt think of the song once. Just focused on counting my strokes and trying to relax. Got out of the water, through T1 and no song. As soon as I jumped on the bike, "I've got bills...."-- right on cue. For most of the entire ride, I was singing, "I've got miles I need to bike, so I'm gonna ride ride ride the whole way..." But then as soon as I got to T2...never thought of the song again. Just counted my steps during the marathon. Maybe I need to count my pedal strokes on the bike. ??
This past weekend on the IMWI course I had whatever that "Call me maybe" song in my head. I came up on 3 athletes riding the course and the woman had some sort of speakers playing on her bike. I asked if I could ride with them for a few minutes to get the damn song out of my head. Didn't work...
At college swim practice we'd sing commercial jingles on the wall, trying put stupid songs in each others heads. Good times!
Ha ha! Every. SIngle. Long. Ride -- "Lonely Girls" by Lucinda Williams. Great song, but not one I want to have bopping around in my brain while on the bike alone. Thx Lu!
Sometimes my brain will mix it up and throw up something like "Nightswimming" (REM) or some old Cowboy Junkies song. Good thing I like going long (read: slow)! I never seem to get anything uptempo in my head. Had "You've Never Been This Far Before" by Conway Twitty in my head for a while on my longish run this weekend. That was horrible.
