Fixing broken spoke...THANK YOU COACH RICH
So I'm 25 miles from home this morning when I hear a loud "POP", which ends up being a broken spoke in the rear wheel. Don't have a cell phone, nobody is stopping to ask for help, the one end of the broken spoke rubs against the inside of the cassett as the wheel spins creating major friction, and I'm thinking..."This is a major workout that I'm possibly going to miss"(a 90 miler...IMMD is 8 weeks from today)!!!
Then I remember coach Rich mentioning in some post, who knows how long ago, about how you can tape the broken spoke to the one next to it and ride on the wheel. Well, wouldn't you know, my "old school" taping the gel packs to the top tube with electric tape paid off this morning??. Taped the broken spoke to a good one per coach Rich, made it back home 25 miles(even got two more 20' reps at race pace plus), threw on my race wheel and headed out to complete my 90 miler, followed by a nice 6 mile run.
THANKS coach Rich.....and I'll always have some electric tape in my tool bag now!!

If you don't have tape you can bend the spoke around the one next to it. Wheel will be out of true but you can open up the brake caliper or feed it some cable slack, to open it up more, if it's really bad.
