Powertap takes a crap before Rev 3 1/2 tomorrow

I had this freakin thing rebuilt and has been flawless until today.  I got to Knoxsville for the Rev3 1/2 tomorrow and went out to check the bike today and no power numbers.  Mechanics messed with it for an hour and nothing.  It sucks after the Nov OS this winter,I was looking forward to racing by the meter and blammo!!  O.K. so no power meter so I'm glad I brought my 305 so I'll have those numbers.  Don't be stupid because it can still be along 13 miles if your walking.  Good luck to any others from the house.  There will be some live video if your bored with Sunday golf.

  • Sorry to hear this Paul! But you have trained, are ready for this, and will rock it! Power meter or not! You know how the ride feels...go with that! Best of luck to you!!! Enjoy your day!!!
  • Paul, you know those power targets well, and should have no problem keeping yourself from going too hard. Patience and discipline. You'll do well.

    Trust yourself!
  • Good Luck Paul! Your already on the starting line as I type this so you won't see it until you finish. But we're behind you, PM or not!
  • Thanks for the posts guys.  I will add a race report later. I did have a good race. I paced off off HR and never really pushed. I went 5:30 on a hilly bike and run course so very happy with the effort.  Only had one run over 1:30 all winter and spring(injury) and only a handfull of swims so very happy off the bike and with the day .

  • Not that we anticipate losing the PM all of a sudden, but I know I sit there thinking "so this is how XX watts feels" a lot. I assume everyone does. It's too bad you won't be able to reconstruct whether that PE/watts correlation is very good. Seems to me that at the HIM distance, it's in a range that we ride a lot, so perhaps doable. In any case, glad to hear your race went well and that you had HR backup.
  • Great job Paul! Looking forward to your report!
