Coach Rich,

After a three year break from triathlon / training, I have decided to get back in the game.   I have been back at it for 6 weeks.  The last time I raced was 2012 IM Arizona (going 10:27 with Endurance Nation at a race weight of 165).   I currently weigh 205.  What plans would you advise me to use / load over the next year?  Do you have any other advice for someone returning to the sport?

High Level Goals

  • Get to a decent training weight
  • Complete a half marathon in May of 2016
  • Complete a sprint triathlon in June of 2016
  • Complete an Olympic triathlon in the fall of 2016
  • Spring Marathon or Summer Half Ironman in 2017
  • Fall Half Ironman in 2017
  • Full Ironman in 2018

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.  Thanks!

    Hey Ryan,

Welcome back to the game! Please complete the Triathlon Season Roadmap survey here, giving me specific races, dates, etc, so I can plan this out for you more formally. Thanks!

  • I have submitted a new Season RoadMap.  Thanks again for the help!

  • No worries, good luck!
