Bike Time Trial Heart Rate

Fellow Boomers!

This might be a dumb question but here I go. My heart rate is dropping on my time trials. It seems like a good thing to have a lower heart rate at faster speeds but when I just did my big day I held a much higher heart rate for over 40 miles. (Of course I was riding with my 29 year old monster fit son-in-law and never should have been up there, but it concerned me that I might now be pushing it hard enough in my solo time trial).

Anyone else have this problematic mind-set?

IMAZ here I come!

  • Have you done an FTP test to establish your zones lately? If not done in a while and you've been riding a lot you could be leaving dollars on the table by not going hard enough as you mention. I would do an FTP test, yest they suck but it's the only way to truly know where you stand currently and re-adjust as necessary based on your results.
