  • I bought one and don't think it's accurate data. Should have listened to my coach.
  • And, just to balance the scales with Dana's experience.....I have been using one since July and I have found it very consistent.

No signal drops. Easy to cal and use. Battery and case very accessible with Low Battery signal sent to my garmin when it needs to be changed.

The biggest thing to get used to is the delta between the Stages and my Quarq. The Stages reads about 10w lower than my Quarq. I was doing a bunch of pain cave trainer intervals in the spring with the Quarq. In July, spent a week just riding with the Stages and then did an indoors test. Spot on...10w lower. Did some research online and I found several posts/threads/articles with similar deltas.

So, if you are looking for the biggest Watt Number, Stages might not be for you. But, improving power should be a trend no matter what the baseline number looks like.

The Stages allowed me to dust off some of my other cranksets (a DA 53/39 and a DA 54/42) and get some fun out of those things.

I still love my compact Quarq, but the Stages gives me some options.

I can sleep just fine at night knowing that my watts on a Stages ride will look lower that the same effort on a Quarq ride. Not that big of a deal to me.

    Just my own personal experience.
  • Good to know! I bought the Stages because I wanted to learn/train with power before making a big purchase. All my power numbers look pathetic, and even knowing the bike is NOT my strength, the numbers always look extremely lower than others at or even below my fitness level.

I've been thinking of bringing it by the bike shop where I made the purchase to see if it needs calibrating. After Chris's input I am for sure having it checked out.
