2015 Maryland Coach Video and AMA Thread...
Folks, I can't do the webinar tonight (09/21/2015) so I took the liberty of recording my thoughts on a video, and giving you access to the movie, files, and even just the audio (if you want to listen and flick through the slides).
Here is a link to the maps I used in the presentation:
- The Bike Map
- The Run Map (updated with Nemo's version, thanks!)
You can use this thread to ask me any specific pre-race questions!
I will monitor it and will check in until you start posting your personal Race Plans!!!

One thing Jim Ebert pointed out in his Race Plan that I want to be sure folks consider is that they don't spray for mosquitos in the refuge. So if you flat out there- you are likely to get eaten! Consider a little travel bug spray in the Bento Box or in your toolbag.
Additionally, I have friends who did a RR out there last weekend and they were stung by sea nettles (jellyfish). There isn't too much you can do about that- but if you are highly allergic, perhaps throw a benadryl in your Bento as well.
Team. I was having a hard time figuring out where the Run SNB was going to be (and since I plan on having nutrition in that bag, it's important for me to know when I'll have access). The map Coach P provided doesn't really help you figure that out (partially because it's missing a funky loop in there). Anyway, I mapped the full 26ish miles out on MapMyRun here:

What I learned from this exercise was two things.
1- You'll be given your Run SNB only once, but you have two options to get that hand-off (both occuring as you leave Great Marsh park heading out towards "turn 2"). The first opportunity comes a bit after mile 8 and the second comes a bit before mile 19. So plan accordingly.
2- Duh, I totally didn't realize until doing this exercise that the FINISH is NOT at Great Marsh Park! It's actually down at the marina! So I need to re-work my hubby's sherpa plan as well.
Great tip on the mosquitos...and yes for the heads up re swimming with jellyfish...remember to keep you mouth closed in the water!!!!!!!!!
The other reason to keep your mouth shut is the water is brackish (spell). i.e. not as salty as the Atlantic Ocean, but definitely has some salt in it.
More info to digest on this last week before the race! The IMMD Assistant Race Director has posted a google earth type video overview of both the run and the bike course. Pretty good review in addition to what Coach P has above.

In the video they point to a NOAA site for water temps which are taken about 1/4 mile away from the swim course, so fairly reliable.
