Patti's last couple weeks till Kona
That's what my granddaughter says when she doesn't feel well and I'm right there with her! after Austria, I flew back on the plane and the folks in front of me were coughing their lungs up! I figured they were smokers and I'd be immune. Oh contraire... a week later I got a mild bronchitis.... took some Zithromax and raced Chicago. felt great! Came home still feeling okay, did a bunch of swimming in the Quarry which is open water and a little warm.. lots of turtles and ducks.... and two days later WAM!!! bad sinusitis, bronchitis, and I had to do a bunch of night shifts with daytime classes in between! My partners prescribed me some Augmentin and Medrol and I had to use Ventolin and Advair to breath... I sounded like those folks on the airplane! I made it through my night shifts and all but I am sure I scared my patients with my cough . No more open water, no runs, ...I managed to get in a long bike ride and had to practice keeping heart rate in normal range the whole time due to the medicines and wheezing. (averaged way over 160... my LT is about 145!) (I think that was dumb to do!)
I'm a lot better today, got to sleep a lot and have had pints of lemonade and chicken soup. However, I'm still on meds and still coughing. I think I can maybe do some weights and yoga but too sick to want to spread germs. I doubt I can run in the heat right now...I'm considering an indoor bike tomorrow...
coach, I think this past week was toast! and this week might be as well. Any other recommendations? I'm thinking, bag it. tempo on the bike tomorrow, maybe and sleep a lot. I am anxious even about chlorinated water... I always feel better after a run but we are still in the 80s and 90s here... I think I just have to chill and be grateful this didn't happen later than sooner! I still have three night shifts this week in the ER
