Calvin's Macro Forum

Coach Rich,

We briefly met at the E.N. dinner in CHOO and I attended the 4 keys meeting on friday.  CHOO was my first full IM.  I just filled out my race report for this next year.  My main race is IM Canada July 24, 2016.  I plan to do a half marathon in Nov, a duathlon in Feb and some other small local events along the way but none of them are listed on the options given.

My background.  Started training in Feb of this year for my first half IM in August at Lake Stevens.  In June, I decided I might as well go for the full distance and registered for CHOO.  I didn't have a coach (just local swim coach) and I used the training guide posted on the IM website.  It was bittersweet as I came in at 12:00:05, just 6 sec shy from being in the 11 hr club- but like you say- its just a game.

As busy as I am w/ wife/kids/work/church, my goal is to improve my race time.  As I'm new to E.N. I don't know how the training schedule works, I'm assuming I communicate these needs to you via this macro thread.  If I'm wrong, please direct me.  Due to special circumstances just for this month (Oct).  I have long hours available only on sunday and thursdays.  My only free evenings are mon/tues/wed.   When Nov begins, my schedule will free up.

I'm part of a local running group and I enjoy running with them on tuesday nights.  On wednesday nights, I like to swim w/ a local tri group.  I know you advocate not swimming in the O.S. but because swimming is my weakness, I'd prefer to swim just one night a week.  If your able to incorporate these things into my training schedule - this would be great.  For simplicity, I'll summarize it below

Sunday-    open all morning/afternoon

Monday-   evenings open

Tuesday-  running w/ local group (tempo's, hill climbs, mile repeats, etc)

Wednesday- swim w/ local tri group

Thursday- open all morning/afternoon

Friday/Saturday not available for any training.

Cheers-

Calvin Kim

  • Hi Calvin,

Thanks for the detail. Please go back to your TSR and add the races you're doing. If they're not in the drop down, scroll all the way down (I think) and you'll find an "Add Race" option. Please use that to add your events.
  • I edited my race plan- thanx
  • Got and it will get this done for you today. Thanks!
  • Coach, just want to make sure you didn't forget about updating my training plan!

    Thanx-

    Calvin
  • Hey Calvin, I did this for you last week so we should be good? Sorry, I get slammed with these this time of year, as new people join and the vets end their season and start planning for next season
