Coach Rich,

I just finished week 2 of Run Durability 1, and was thinking about switching to Run Durability 2 for the remaining two weeks before OutSeason. The run volume and intensity of RD1 are less than what I was doing over the summer (when I had more biking and swimming as well), and the training stress feels pretty low. Would it make sense for me to switch for the next two weeks?

Thanks,

Mike

    Hey Mike,

Yep, that's fine, go for it.

  • Rich,

I have 7 weeks between November OS (intermediate) and Get Faster (intermediate), which I've been planning to fill with the Half Marathon Balanced (advanced) plan to prepare for a March half. Looking at that plan now, I'm worried about losing hard-won bike fitness. Compared to what I am doing now in OS, my run volume will stay about the same (though more speedwork) but the bike will go from 3x/week to once every other week.

Should I consider another plan (or add some bike sessions into the half marathon plan)? My biggest priority is setting myself up well to start the Full Ironman plan in May.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Mike, I'm confused. I checked your TSR and I have you exiting the OS plan in Feb 1, then transitioning to the Get Faster plan, in route to starting the HIM plan on 4/4. You're doing a half marathon in March, in the middle of the GF plan. Just stick with the GF plan, no need to do the Half Marathon plan.

Let me know if I'm missing something

  • Rich,

That's strange...the TSR that I see (created 11/5) has the half marathon plan in the middle. Going straight to Get Faster makes sense.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Ok, crap, I see it now. I think you're good for now. Please just follow my notes above and then circle back to me later in the spring to sort out your summer. Thanks.
