The opposite of Bike Porn

So, I have been riding a 14 year old trek road bike that had been fit as a tri bike until the paint started chipping off in patches due to the sweat-induced oxidization.  I made the call to change her back to a road bike set-up so I can participate with local group rides and I am making the leap to a new real tri-bike in the spring.  So I found this guy in town that sand blasted and powder coated the frame and She has been stripped and rebuilt.  It is still an old bike but it feels a bit zippier. And the all black looks a bit cooler.  Too bad it has the same old motor though...

  • Cuz Ralph,

There is NOTHING wrong with your motor. You eight cyclinder just fine. What kind of "real" tri bike are your getting? I have a confused bike too. I haven't pulled the plug on a full on technological marvel yet either. I won't for another year or two. Life has gotten in the way. Oh well.

Have fun riding your fancy shiny bike.

Cuz, thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I really needed it.

  • Nice! And definitely faster!
  • Need some EN stickers Tho...
  • Stealthy!!!!! Gotta love the road bike!
  • Sweet! Now that I've retired my old Calfee I may set it up as commuter/knock around town bike. There's also a guy in my town that does restorations of old vintage bikes. He's got some awesome stuff. Fun to look at.
  • Looks like you made a couple of upgrades.  Nice.

I work in a bike shop and LOVE seeing old bikes that have been rehabbed.  I just fully restored a Schwinn Typhoon beach cruiser myself.

    Good work and happy cycling.

  • I am torn between pride that Rich thinks my bike looks good and shame at the fact that it brings "vintage" bikes to mind. image
  • She's purty! Looking forward to playing in the mountains again too R2! image
