Hi Team!,

I am about to pull the trigger and finally buy a powermeter. I am thinking of buying a power2max, the one I am thinking to buy is the following:

Add a colored ring:

US$ 0.00
Add chain rings:
Praxis Works OEM Installed Chain Ring Set × 1

Add a bottom bracket:
FSA Megaexo bottom bracket for BB30 × 1

I was about to buy a stages powermeter and I found this one on DCR and really like the price considering its a crank based.. the only negative point is to buy in $USD.. with our awesome $CND, anyway.

Anyone using power2max ? what are your thoughts etc.

As usual, thanks alot !

  • Hi Franks - Power2Max is not crank based - it replaces the spider in your current crank set or you can buy it together with the cranks/chain rings.

I have The Type-S for the S-Works cranks on both my bikes. I absolutely love it. It just turns on and works, is temperature compensated and automatically zeros as you ride. Never a second thought. The only negative I can give is that you have to take the crank off in order to change the battery... but this is a 1-2x per year maintenance item. I normally change it at the start of the season and before the first full-distance race.
  • Absolutely love mine! Always works/no fuss/totally reliable/consistent. Like you the cost was an attraction, and this was 4 years ago with a "classic" model, when they cost more than the one you're getting now! When I read posts about issues with some of the other PM's that are popular with others on the team....needing to calibrate, batteries dying (change mine once/year just to be safe...never had it go dead), etc....I wonder why power2max isn't more popular.

In fact I just checked their site and noticed that their classic models are $499.00 "while they last", and I'll probably get one to have for the road bike that I don't have yet, but want to get someday soon image
  • I have a Power2Max and have no issues - best bang for your buck. I'm selling my 2-year old classic Power2Max 53/39 crank with praxis rings if anyone is interested
  • I'm very happy with my P2Max setup also. I picked it up back in April and have been loving it ever since. Just be sure you buy the right crank for your frame/bb.
  • add me to the list. type s. although i dont find that I need to remove the cranks to change the battery.
  • I just ordered it, its already out of the door, should arrive on Friday on time for the week end and beginning of the OS !

    finallllllly a PM =)
  • It's a whole new world with a PM...you're going to love it!
