Strenght Training

Hello Coach Patrick,

During the off season I am used to a very robust twice a week strength training regime, the program includes upper and lower body exercises both body weight and using weights including the use of machines.

I have seen in the OS Plan that there is the core program, can I integrate and do my strength  routine in addition to the core program ? I mean the same days ?

  • Yes you can totally do that. My only warning is that somewhere around week eight, the fatigue from the bike workouts combines with the cumulative training effect on the run to make you very tired. At that point in time, you may need to choose between continuing to be able to push the out season workouts and continuing to do the core and strength workout as you have done them. At that point in time you'll have to make the call – I suggest you cut down on the strength and put your effort into the out-season. But that's 100% your call!
