tranistion from one HIM plan to another?

I am racing Kansas 70.3 June 6th. I was thinking of taking an easy week to recover and then diving back into the HIM plan at week 12 to get ready for Boulder 70.3 in August. Is this enough recovery before I begin again? I know It sounds like I'm not focused on my current race but trust me I am, I just have to plan my child care a month in advanced. Any thoughts?

  • Jessica- If you are well prepared for Kansas, then you could probably do yourself a mental favor and take 2 weeks to relax before getting back into structured training. Is Kansas your first HIM? If so then you might need more recovery time than 1 week. If you are comfortable with that distance, then do what you like. I think it is very difficult to do back to back structured training for such a long period. (24 weeks is almost 6 months!- and if you did OS....!!!!)
  • What Michelle said (thanks!), don't underestimate the power / depth of what you have done this far. Some good rest = good for your body and your family and then you can ramp up in 8 or even 10 weeks... trust me!
