Home Races & Places 🏁⛺

Congrats on making to the taper!

Packed it in today with a 2hr bike and 20 min run. This year seemed much more difficult to maintain the intensity compared to '14 - watching the rest of the team finish their builds and get pumped about the OS, combined with the weather change + loss of daylight has made an impact. But I am stoked to get to Austin, hang with my family, and root for my wife and brother in their first 70.3 effort. For myself I am aiming for a 'complete race' and to really enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the taper and see you in Austin!

  • Nice work Doug. I was able to get a 2 hour trainer session in today...frankly, it stunk. I hate doing long rides on the trainer...but it's done. I've elected to not run this past week since my lower back issues that popped up after the RR. As far as running goes, I'll play this week by ear & see how I feel. I'm also looking forward to Austin...hoping that the race date which was moved back two weeks will help keep the temps cool. The last two years it's been warmer than I like.

Tested out a new sleeveless wetsuit for my swim RR on Thursday. Really, really liked having my shoulders free to move about - ended up with a personal swim RR PR.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! Have a great week!
  • I tell people, as I have experienced it, that when you're ready to get the race over, (I mean REALLY get it over), means you're ready to race it!

My training hasn't been great lately, but I'll be there come Sunday ready to go! I'll just call it being "over tapered"!
