Marvin Karlow Micro
Coach P -
I'm in the Nov OS but I have some schedule challenges.
I'm going to be traveling M-Th every week until the end of the year. I will not have access to anything like a bike while on the road.
So, I was thinking to
- Do the Run workouts back-to-back Monday - Thursday
- Do the Bike workouts Friday, Saturday, Sunday, with the brick on Sat
I signed up for Beginner even though I could do Intermediate under more ideal conditions.
The main down sides seem to be
- minimal recovery between sessions
- diminishing returns in later sessions due to fatigue
- injury risk
The only upside is that I get the work in versus not.
Do you have any better ideal or do I have your blessing for this highly modified schedule?
Thanks.

A crazy travel schedule and the policies and ambitions? You are definitely a full on endurance nation member.
Stacking all the runs and bikes together is certainly less than ideal, but it can be done. Most importantly it appears that you have eliminated all the days of rest, which with your travel schedule may become a requirement. Or the very least, please remain open to it.
Here's what I am thinking:
Mon - Optional OFF Day (if not off, then you can do an Easy 30 to 45' run per the optional elements of the schedule).
Tues - Long Run from Sunday
Wed - Ez Run / Strides
Thu - Wednesday Interval Run
Fri - Tuesday FTP ride
Sat - Saturday ride / run
Sun - Thursday VO2 ride.
based on the schedule, your Sunday bike ride may suffer simply due to fatigue. If that's the case, I'm totally fine with you getting in our cycling time, and we can drop the VO2 work in favor of some big ring strength stuff that should be much more manageable for you.
Let me know what you think!

Coach P:
Thanks for the response. I have certainly 'drunk the EN cool aide'
I agree with your comment about a rest day. The plan was to have a rest day, just didn't know where each week ... but either Monday or Thursday. And at my age, I'm good with taking extra if necessary.
I think your schedule is perfect. That will be the plan going forward. Tonight will be night #3 of back-to-back runs ... so we will see how that goes.
Thanks again.
