Quick Q concerning the outseason:

Considering I am dropping out of the OS a bit early, is there any strategic value to skip the testing week and pick up an additional week of OS?

IOW - may I please skip over of the week 8 (testing) of the OS and go directly to week 9? 

  • I have just raced a 10K
  • I have a conservative idea where my FTP is right now. Regardless, I attempt to completely slay myself on every FTP and VO2 max interval available to me (picked this up from you).

    No need to test yourself if you feel you know your zones / can adjust them / figure them out without testing. Good luck!
  • Coach Rich - I hope you are doing well - knock on wood but I have been doing all I can to keep my family happy, stay healthy, and stack up quality OS workouts at decent (for me) TSS numbers. Haven't had this type of consistent training for quite some time.



    Quick notes:

    - My A race is IM South Africa on 10 April.

    - I am currently in week 12 of the OS to end on 3 Jan.

    - I then load swim camp and IM minimalist intermediate plan to end on 10 April.

    - Accumulated 4 rides in excess of 3 hours or 105 KM over the last 28 days. (Have taken advantage of the incredible weather here to extend my weekend ride).

    - Ran 126 miles in the last 28 days


    I am writing to request the following changes:

    - May I skip week 14 of the OS and insert the big bike week into my plan. I would prefer not to test at this point and my run has been solid. Would love to get a solid week of cycling in, while giving my calfs a break from running. The time of year is not an issue for me as we will not be traveling.



    - May I use the last 12 weeks of the IM Full Intermediate plan instead of the IM minimalist plan?

Yep, that's fine, no need to test if you feel you don't need to always good to take advantage of opportunities like this.
