OutSeason® Seminar 4: Building a Breakthrough Season with Run Durability

Folks...another week, another webinar! In this examination of Run Durability, I clarify the work you do in the winter for the run, it's origin inside Endurance Nation, how it plays out across the rest of your year in terms of your ability level and "A" race. There are some great questions at the end as well.

Duration: 77'

Links: It lives under the Webinar Section of the Main OutSeason Page, you can go directly to the page here.

If you have follow up questions, etc, please put them in this forum thread!

  • First off, thanks RnP for the new run focus! This makes the EN secret sauce taste even better. I look forward to seeing EN athletes running down the competition next season.

First question: what are the recommendations for hacking the OS plan to add more speedwork? It looks like the OS plan now has only one Z4 interval session in favor of increased frequency. Having spent the last five months doing a run focused block, I feel like I have good run durability and want to get faster in the OS. Would it risk injury to add in another day of intervals?

Second question: what about incorporating trail runs? Not only are they super fun but they also reduce the punishment on the body and help strengthen the legs by running on uneven surfaces (and usually hills).
  • @Gabe - I've done a few of my OutSeason longer runs on trails and think it is a great tool for the exact reasons you mentioned.  It also makes the 2 X 1 mile intervals very interesting assuming you are comfortable with going fast on trails.  It sounds like you have experience on them, so no issues.
