Tragedy in Montreal

Team,

Safety first ... always.  To paraphrase Sgt. Esterhaus from "Hill Street Blues", "... let's be careful out there."

Needless to say, our local tri scene is devastated ...

  •  Horrible.  been following this on ST all day.  So hard to imagine that a driver just didn't see a group that big.  Best wishes for the families and speedy recovery to the injured.  Crazy.

  •  Wow! That is terrible.

Sorry to hear, speedy recovery to those injured, and to the Montreal Tri community

  •  Link here.

Ugh.I can't imagine what those of you who know and ride with them are feeling now. So sorry this ever has to happen.

  • OH my heavens. That is horrible to look at. No alcohol they say, but was there a phone involved? So distressing.

  • How terrible!!! What is the matter with people??? My sympathies to the tri community in Montreal! I am just heading out to bike this morning. This is definately a stern reminder to be absolutely vigilant at all times!
  • I feel ill and I can't help but cry for the victims. This is so horrifying. Unbelievable that this is what it takes for transportation officials to consider paving the shoulder. It shouldn't matter how skinny anyone's tires are for all of us to be focused on safety - ours and that of others. I am so deeply sorry for the loss that you in the community are dealing with now.
  • @Linda - Apparently no phone.  Belief is that the driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel ... he'd worked an overnight shift.

The tri club has put training on hold for a week - activities will resume after appropriate mourning period.

Our provincial tri federation as well as bike fed will make sure a thorough investigation is completed.
