Wanted: Wireless Speaker System for House
Team,
I'd like to affordably play music in any room in my house. Requirements, as I see them:
- A base station of some flavor that talks to iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. I'm familiar with the JBL and Bose wireless systems. This would probably sit in my living room, as that's my main listening area and I can hear it good enough in the kitchen and dining room.
- ^This^ talks to 2 speakers in my bedroom and 2 in my office. Would be cool if it could also reach out to additional speakers in the garage for when I'm working on motorcycles and bikes.
- I'm able to switch the output to different speakers / rooms via an app.
- If it matters, everything I listen to is streamed from either Pandora or Apple Music.
I'm not an audiophile and my house is very small so while I could just move this base station thingy from room to room, I figure there has to be an affordable BT wireless speaker system so I don't have to. I'd say my budget all in is <$500.</span>
Any help?

I guess I solved my own problem? :-)
Rich - I've had both Bluetooth and standard Wi-Fi solutions to this issue. The sound quality from Bluetooth is FAR INFERIOR to that produced via Wi-Fi.
Here's an example, from Sonos (I have one of their systems hooked to my TV, with good sound quality). Two room set-up for $349. It assumes a source (like iTunes on a computer or phone) ready to transmit thru your home wifi network.

the couple of folks that I know that have this system love it and say it works flawlessly. Not cheap, but, based on what I've heard, it's the next best thing to having the entire house wired with in-dwelling speakers.
I'm waiting to see what the next gen is like so I can benefit from a slight price drop on this gen.
