2016 OutSeason: Training Data Tracking and Body Composition Accountability
Team,
Two key elements of the 2016 OutSeason will be
- A Team / OS-wide focus on tracking training data: creating a culture of logging and tracking training data will create powerful training and analysis tools for us to us, as a tool, later in the season, especially during the Race Preparation Phase.
- A Team / OS-wide focus on improving body composition, through diet and exercise logging, and accountability systems: "Light is Right" and we want to do a better job of starting your towards consistent progress towards your goals now vs closer to your races.
I'm heading up these two initiatives and will use this space, and other tools, to bring everyone up to speed.
Tracking Training Data = Trainingpeaks

Trainingpeaks will be "official" training log platform for Endurance Nation, for the following reasons:
- Very seamless integration with Garmin devices: go for a ride/run, upload your workout via Garmin Connect and it appears automagically in your Trainingpeaks log.
- Integration with WKO4 for detailed analysis (more on this later)
- Integration with MyFitnessPal mobile app.
Question: Will the Endurance Nation training plans be made available for upload into my Trainingpeaks account?
Answer: no, sorry. There are significant costs on our end associated with making these plans available for download into a Trainingpeaks account and we have to pass those costs on to you. We made these available to the Team a few years ago and the interest was exactly zero -- not a single EN athlete choose to purchase their EN plan in the TP.com platform. And so for this reason we have no plans to make our...plans...available for upload into TP.com training accounts.
Body Composition Improvement and Accountability = MyFitnessPal
Please go here to learn about the diet and exercise tracking system I've been using since 2010. For 2016, and for this initiative, we'll use MyFitnessPal vs LoseIt!
- MFP has good integration with Garmin devices and Trainingpeaks: upload your workout via Garmin Connect, it shows up in your Trainingpeaks training log and is also logged in your MyFitnessPal account.
- MFP has good group accountability tools: you can friend up other EN athletes, I'll create an EN Group on MFP and we'll experiment with this tool together over the OutSeason, creating powerful body comp accountability tools we can all use for the rest of the season.
Endurance Nation and MyFitnessPal
- Create an account on MyFitnessPal
- Click community link in the main menu bar, then click Groups
- Search "Endurance Nation" (best way to find EN is on a computer versus a phone)
- Request to Join
- Enjoy!

- Athletes are tracking and logging their training data within Trainingpeaks by simply uploading their workouts to the cloud via Garmin Connect (or Express...ugg...I lose track of how this all works!)
- This information is pushed into your MyFitnessPal account, within which you're (1) setting goals, (2) logging your meals, and (3) plugging into the social accountability tools we'll create in MFP together.
- As the months tick along we all, as Team, become more familiar with the training log analysis tools of TP and WKO4, created additional opportunities for us later in the season.
Please watch this thread as I build out these tools for you. Thanks!

I'm having trouble finding the Endurance Nation Group in MyFitnessPal. Can you give some hints for which tab it might be under?
and, is there a specific EN group in TP so you can consolidate all of these miles your athletes are putting up? Presently, I still use the older version of WKO. Does WKO4 do this ^^^?
Jenn added me this morning....if you give me your MPF I can see if I can invite you.
My username is just my last name....Hardbeck.
