iM Wisconsin training

Hi Rich, I am signed up to do IM Wisconsin this year and would like to go to Madison in July to do some course re-con. I stumbled across a training weekend called "Wisconsin Brick Adventure". The link to the website is: http://www.wibrickadventure.com. The date is July 29-31st. This is also the same time I am scheduled to do my high volume training weekend. Does this seem like this would be a good fit?

  • Kevin, i have heard good things about this event. I will be racing IMMOO (there will be several of us from Metro Detroit) and may participate as well for this weekend. If I do we'll connect for sure!
  • Done IMWI 2x, haven't done WIBA but heard about it. The course is pretty easy to ride at any time- it is pretty well marked all summer, and there are 3 gas stations along the loop to stop and refill. There are always a lot of folks out on it, so no worries about being all alone. Enjoy IMWI- love that race!
  • I did this back in 2013, and am signed up for it again this year. I thought it was a great way to learn the course and hang out with some other likeminded athletes, plus it is free! Nor sure I will do all of it but definitely some. I live 2 hours away. Maybe see you there.
  • I've raced IMMOO twice. Not racing this year but am only 100 miles away....keep me posted on this...I may use as a way to get in some volume in advance of my race in Oct.
  • Did WIBA last summer and I highly recommend it.  The folks at Rocket Bike Studios in Verona sponsor the weekend and they are extremely helpful and just plain awesome!  The ride is pretty much self supported with drinks and snacks available (free) at the shop which is right off the course.  There is also an opportunity to swim and run the IM course.  It is a great opportunity to meet others you will be racing with and just gives you a nice, organized opportunity to train

  • I am considering a weekend for RR1 and CAMP during the 1st or 2nd week of August on site for anyone else this who would like to accompany:
    1. Friday ride the course and run 6 miles
    2. Saturday ride the course
    3. Sunday Long run on course
  • Thanks so much for the great feedback. I joined EN a few weeks ago and am finding out how awesome you guys and gals are!!
  • The timing of WIBA is fine and is right in line with the camp I've been doing up there since 2003.
  • Shaughn, I would be tempted to join you but I'm signed up for the Dairyland Dare Gran Fondo in Dodgeville WI, just west of Madison on August 13th.  Plan on using that as part of my RR.  I'm really excited about this for some reason.   http://www.dairylanddare.com/
