Josh Udermann - Road to Ironman Canada

Hello,

I just started my friend referral membership last Wednesday.  Do I just repeat the workouts from last week?  Does this trial not include any OS training, my season roadmap has me starting this today?

    Hello,

I just started my friend referral membership last Wednesday.  Do I just repeat the workouts from last week?  Does this trial not include any OS training, my season roadmap has me starting this today?

Your Triathlon Season RoadMap is here and has you starting the OutSeason today.

  • Under the Current Plan the Trial Week Training Plan is showing up and I cannot load OS plan because I am in a trial basis.

"This is a members-only feature that is not activated during your trial membership."
  • Ok, thanks for the heads up. Working on this now and will get back to you.
  • This is fixed. Good luck!
  • I got it up and going now. Thanks!

I understand the philosophy of swimming less or not at all in the off-season with there being very little return on the time investment. I am already near the upper limit of swimming, so I typically have used swimming workouts as an active recovery to my run/bike sessions. I can swim relatively fast with little effort...IE 5x200 @2:30 with my HR generally staying below 140 or 100s @1:20 and my HR won't rise above 120. I work at an Aquatic Center so I have easy, quick, free access to a pool. Can I supplement the current OS plan with 2 days of swimming 1500-2000 yards (20-30 minutes)?

I am also curious about your thoughts on incorporating light yoga during the week? I enjoy doing ~20 minutes of yoga daily for injury prevention, stretching, core work, mental focus?

    Thanks for the feedback!
  • Josh, I had the same question in the beginning of the OS. I was cleared to swim for recovery. Although I ended up not swimming mainly bc it was inconvenient. So I didn't swim at all for 3 months, started swimming last week and didn't miss a beat. I thought the core workouts were very valuable to keeping my swimming muscles firing and a recovery from running. You could probably work in yoga into your core, I did a few times. You are also on the advanced plan so you have an extra day of run. I also used the OS to work on body composition, losing 6lbs while gaining lots of power. It paid off on the run, PRing by 6 min in my 13.1. Love to hear what coach P has to say.
