  • Looks at nails... breathes on them with a huff... then polishes them on lapel with a flick of his wrist... "AWA Silver" he whispers
  • Congrats, Ed! And to the dozens of ENers who likewise earned hardware. If this were a team comprised only of genetically-gifted elites, this wouldn't be as cool. Instead, the vast majority of us are mere mortals who train and, more importantly, race harder and smarter than the rest. Work not only works, it creates precious metal.

The AWA system still heavily favors those who finish three races, especially those who have more dollars than sense and do three IMs. I almost fell in that category in 2015, with two IMs and a 70.3, which apparently was good enough for gold. 24 out of 7,615 in the US, 89 out of 22,630 in the world.

Cheers to an even better 2016.
  • I'll add congratulations in here too. I was also fortunate and earned a Silver for two IM finishes where I was 19th & 20th in my AG. I am proud that WTC sent this out. However, the more valuable medal I earn was meeting some really awesome athletes from this team. Several of those members I communicate with on a regular basis. All of them were and are instrumental to my training and racing success!
  • Congrats to all! Yep, I got the Silver also:-) Won my age group in Eagleman and Timberman 70.3's and IMCHOO. I agree with Edwin! The best part of the races and training is all the EN mojo! You guys rock:-)
  • Gold! And I ain't even going to feign humility in my humble brag!

(I hit this by the thinnest of margins: I was watching my rank get closer and closer to the cut line as the season went on (yes, I monitor this!). But managed to stay on the right side of it).
  • Mike and Ed... congrats guys... I've watched you both kill it all year. Dave...Awesome... You're on another level dude.. crazy what you've accomplished! Carol... You're a total inspiration... You should get gold just for the awesome podcasts you've done around here!

  • I have to say I was a little surprised to get the AWA email in my inbox, especially given that it was my first ever IM this year. Hmm. Then again, maybe it has something to do with finishing my second ever IM just seven weeks later... hard to say...

Without a doubt - WORK WORKS!
  • Didn't get an e-mail (?) but according to their site I am Silver for IM70.3 and Silver for AWA Overall.
  • Bronze here on 1 IM AG4 and 1 70.3 AG4. I don't quite get their scoring as another gal in my AG beat me at IM Coz and podiumed at Silverman 70.3, and she's honestly just plain faster than me. Carol, all AG1 and just silver? Hmmm... anyhow, I'll take it to get some bennies. Congrats to all!!
  • Oh how the mighty have fallen... While I admit to having more dollars than sense , its been quite easy to hit GOLD just by finishing 3 IM's a year .... I earned SILVER as a direct result to only finishing 2 out of 3 IM's in 2015....grrrrrr
  • I got silver. Definitely $$$ based- they claim silver = top 5%, but the highest I've ever come is maybe 10%, and other races were more like 25% and 50%. Not a real fan of this, fine to reward loyalty but wish they'd call it just that.
