Rudy Wingspan

So, this helmet is on sale for $118, with EN discount.  I already own the Giro Air Attack Shield.  Aside from collecting some more gear, is there much benefit for me to race with this helmet?

2 HIM's and maybe a sprint this year.  MOP athlete, 3.71 w/kg

Thanks

Phil

  • No ... Unless you test faster with it... Of course there is the collecting more gear , better colors (red) , more comfort , possibly even faster, or you just like it better reasons...That is what really matters and that it protects your noggin.. If your going for a KQ and seconds matter , well then your probably going to be spending much more than a helmet when going to the aerodrome:-)

FWIW - the Rudy Wingspan is not known for testing the best at the aerodrome or windtunnels, However , I tested 3 helmets ,and the Rudy Wingspan was the fastest FOR ME.... I even tested it agains the P09 which I really loved and wanted but I was slower in it? Go figure...I did purchase the Wing57 last year , deal was too good to pass up , it was RED , dont know if I'm faster in it but I do like it better than the Wingspan...
  • Great info Tim, thank you. You definitely shifted my thinking from, what will work now, to what will be a better solution in later seasons. I was stuck on the discounted price for some aero gear. Heck, I wasn't even that thrilled with the color options.

With a different perspective, I re-visited the site and found a Wing57 available for $50 more. The color is red and black, so much improved there. While I may never chase a KQ, I am spending a significant amount of time and effort at this game. At least that is how can justify this purchase.
